Petra has built a new life for herself in Skopje, far away from the provincial town she came from — and from her mother. When her mother arrives for a visit on the very morning that Igor, the colleague she is in love with, spends the night at her apartment for the first time, Petra is forced to choose which part of herself to hide. She slips out of the apartment, leaving Igor asleep, meets her mother at the train station, and, with a series of awkward excuses, puts her up in a hotel. Her mother, with her provincial dialect and old-fashioned coat, embodies everything Petra has spent years distancing herself from. And precisely because of this, her presence in the city becomes an uncomfortable reminder of a part of herself Petra cannot bring herself to acknowledge.
