Adriatic Network “Manaki Brothers – Next Generation” Workshop

The Adriatic Network “Manaki Brothers – Next Generation” workshop, held as part of the festival, is a continuation of the Manaki Brothers successors, which until last year was targeted at high school students. This year, under the mentorship of Marija Djidjeva and Fejmi Daut, as part of the Adriatic Network, this event is expanded with students from three countries – Montenegro, N. Macedonia and Albania.

“Young people get to know the work of the Manaki brothers. It is about telling stories through the focus of the new generations, as part of the Adriatic Network. The focus this year is light pollution, starting from the fact that light makes the film and film images, while we teach the new generations how light pollution impacts the creation of stories. Fluorescent light, the light from televisions, fridges, billboards, mobile phones, computers – we are constantly surrounded by it and that is our new reality; this pollutes nature, but is also our personal pollution. They show interest, they have their own ideas. The youngsters should choose a character or a situation from that time and put it in this new time, in a video story. I hope that some interesting ideas, messages and visual stories will come out of this”, Djidjeva said.

Her colleague Daut said that the young enthusiasts presented some interesting ideas at the workshop.

“We had an interesting opportunity to see how young people present their ideas on our topic of light pollution, which are interesting not only for us, but for the viewers as well. There are six authors who have a similar topic and they should merge their ideas in two short videos. We as mentors are here to guide them in their expression. They are very creative and the stories they presented are a synergy between history and present times. Now we are developing the script; there are two groups of three members each and they will produce one video”, Daut said.

The video products by the two teams of students will be completed in the upcoming days.
