As part of the “Manaki Brothers” festival, a presentation titled “Colours in Motion with ARRI: A Conversation on Creative Possibilities” was held today at the Manaki Cinema. Andy Buckland, a senior specialist at the company, discussed new possibilities regarding the work with colour, low-light shooting, and the German manufacturer’s latest technologies.

The presentation focused on ARRI Reveal Color Science and the new ALEXA 35 Xtreme, designed for shooting in extremely low-light conditions. ARRI Core was also introduced, with an emphasis on its ability to facilitate the same workflow—both on set and in post-production—as the existing ALEXA 35 codecs.

Buckland also spoke about ARRI’s reference tool, which supports workflows with tools such as Baselight and DaVinci Resolve, allowing for greater control over the look and colour in different stages of production.

A key highlight was ARRI Core, a next-generation RGB codec developed by ARRI. As stated during the presentation, ARRI Core delivers high image quality and significant post-production flexibility while requiring lower data rates. A comparison of data rate requirements for shooting at 24 frames per second was also shown. The technology aims to enable an efficient workflow without significantly compromising image quality.
