From Vision to Global Brand: The Association of Film Professionals as guardian of the light of cinema

The International Cinematographers’ Film Festival “Manaki Brothers”, the world’s oldest and one of the most prestigious festivals dedicated to cinematographers, was born from the vision of our film professionals.

In 1979, Macedonian Film Professionals Association (DFRM) laid the foundations for the International Cinematographers’ Film Festival “Manaki Brothers.” The mission was clear: to celebrate the magic behind the camera and preserve the legacy of the first cinematographers in the Balkans, Janaki and Milton Manaki.

Today, thanks to the dedication and commitment of DFRM, Bitola has become an annual meeting point for the global film elite. The “Camera 300” Awards have grown into a symbol of outstanding cinematographic achievement, bringing some of the world’s most acclaimed Oscar-winning filmmakers and masters of visual storytelling to our region.

DFRM is not only the founder of the festival, but also a driving force behind the development of Macedonian cinematography — connecting emerging talents with the global film community and placing Macedonian cinema firmly on the international film map.
