Honoring a Pioneer: Nancy Schreiber, ASC, Receives the Trailblazer Award at the Manaki Brothers Film Festival
The Manaki Brothers Film Festival is proud to introduce the Trailblazer Award, a prestigious honor celebrating individuals who have not only excelled in their craft but have also forged new paths and opened doors for future generations. We are delighted to present the inaugural Trailblazer Award to a true pioneer of cinematography, Nancy Schreiber, ASC.
Nancy Schreiber’s illustrious career spans decades, during which she has consistently demonstrated a deep passion for the art of cinematography. With a keen eye for detail, a profound understanding of visual storytelling, and an unwavering commitment to her craft, Schreiber has contributed to some of the most memorable and visually compelling projects of our time especially in the independent filmmmaking sector. Her work has earned her numerous accolades, but it is her role as a trailblazer for women in a historically male-dominated industry that truly sets her apart.
She is the winner of the prestigious award for the best cinematographer in the dramatic selection of “Sundance” for the film “November” (2004), works on documentaries about Linda Ronstadt, Robert Mapplethorpe, Marilyn Monroe, the cult documentary series “Paradise Lost”, and is currently working on the popular TV series: “P-Valley” and “Better Things”.
As one of the first women to join the prestigious American Society of Cinematographers (ASC), Schreiber has been a driving force in challenging the status quo and advocating for greater inclusion within the industry. Her success has not only paved the way for countless women cinematographers but has also inspired a new generation of filmmakers to pursue their dreams with confidence and determination.
The award will be presented to Nancy Schreiber at the 45th edition of the ICFF “Manaki Brothers”, which will be held in Bitola from 21 to 27 September.
