After the world premiere at the Venice Film Festival in the ‘Orizzonti’ competition, the film ‘Housekeeping for Beginners’, written and directed by Goran Stolevski, will open the 44th ICFF Manaki Brothers.
The film’s cinematographer is Naum Doksevski. He was the winner of the Small Camera 300 at the 2018 Manaki Brothers festival for the short film ‘Would You Look at Her’, directed by Goran Stolevski. This is Doksevski’s second feature film after his debut ‘Sisters’.
‘Housekeeping for Beginners’ considers the universal family values – what we were born with and what we have chosen ourselves. Dita has never intended to become a mother, but the present circumstances force to care and provide for little naughty Mia and the rebellious teenager Vanessa, her girlfriend’s daughters. We see the ensuing battle between three headstrong women that slowly grow into a family that would anything to stay together.
In the leading roles are the Romanian actresses Anamaria Marinca (famous from Cristian Mungiu’s film ‘4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days’) and Alina Serban from Romania, Samson Selim, Mia Mustafi, Džada Selim from North Macedonia and Vladimir Tintor from Croatia. In the supporting roles are Sara Klimoska and Ajše Useini from North Macedonia, and Rozafa Celaj from Kosovo.
The film’s producer is Marija Dimitrova from List Production, and the rest of the crew consists of Ana Rzezniczek – production designer, Roza Trajčeska-Ristovska – costume designer, Aleksandra Čevreska – art director, Goran Ignjatovski and Leonora Mehmeti Hoxha – makeup artists, Alen Sinkauz and Nenad Sinkauz – composers, Zoran Maksimović – sound recordist and Emma Bortignon – sound designer.
