1990s, Banpo Town, rural China. A woman’s body is found by the river. Ma Zhe, Chief of the Criminal Police, heads up the murder investigation that quickly leads to an obvious arrest. As his superiors are keen to communicate their success, several clues push Ma Zhe to delve deeper into the hidden behaviour of his fellow citizens.
CINEMATOGRAPHER: CHENGMA ZHIYUAN
Chengma Zhiyuan (also known as Chengma) graduated from the Cinematography Department of the Beijing Film Academy where he also obtained his Ph.D. A member of the China Society of Cinematographers (CNSC). He also served as a visiting scholar in the NYU Tisch School.
Chengma is also the cinematographer of the following feature films: ‘Deep Sea’, ‘Fire on the Plain’, ‘Hello, Beijing’, ‘Vortex’, ‘Lost, Found’, ‘Duckweed’.
