Hirayama seems utterly content with his simple life as a cleaner of toilets in Tokyo. Outside of his very structured everyday routine he enjoys his passion for music and for books. And he loves trees and takes photos of them. A series of unexpected encounters gradually reveal more of his past.

Franz Lustig is best known for his work as a cinematographer of Wim Wenders’ two American films Land of Plenty 2004 and Don’t Come Knocking 2005, as well as Palermo Shooting from 2008.
For Don’t Come Knocking he was awarded the European Film Award as an “European Cinematographer of 2005”. His music video Voodoo in my Blood by Massive Attack was awarded the Golden Frog for Best Music Video at the Camerimage film festival in 2017.
Franz Lustig is a member of the German Film Academy and the European Film Academy.
